Continue to integrate into your life
Mino ware is pottery made in the Tono region of Gifu prefecture.
Supported by history and tradition, it is also integrated into modern life.
Mino ware is characterized by its wide variety, with 15 types designated as traditional crafts.
A representative example is "Oribe", established by Sen no Rikyu and created based on the aesthetics of Furuta Oribe.
Its appeal lies in its deep green glaze color, unique shape, and geometric pattern decoration, and there are various types depending on the style, such as black Oribe, blue Oribe, and full Oribe.
Furthermore, "Shino" is considered an innovative type of pottery in which painting is done under the glaze.
Shino ware, with its beautiful pale pink color and bubbly texture created by the feldspar glaze, reached its peak in the Momoyama period and is still alive today.
Kiseto, a popular Mino ware that has also seen a resurgence in popularity, has a modest, rustic feel.
