Mikawa, the birthplace of cotton in Japan

Mikawa Cotton is a regionally certified textile brand that uses cotton produced in Mikawa, Aichi Prefecture.
It is said that Mikawa was the place where the cotton industry first took root.
Cotton has been cultivated in this region since ancient times, but from the Edo period onwards, farmers began spinning thread as a side job, and this developed into a specialty product known as Mikawa cotton.
It is highly durable, retains moisture, and absorbs moisture, and its thick, soft fabric is used for aprons and interior decorations, while the soft, multi-woven fabric is used for baby bedding.
