Kiso lacquerware / NAGANO

Lacquerware as a daily tool for daily life

Kiso Hirasawa, where Kiso lacquerware is mainly produced, is a town of lacquerware that has continued since the Edo period.
The historic townscape that has been handed down for generations is designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government, and is also known as a tourist destination. The cool climate unique to the highlands at an altitude of 900m is suitable for processing lacquer, and it can be said that Kiso Hirasawa is one of the key factors that made it flourish as one of Japan's leading lacquerware production areas.
Kiso lacquerware is known for its durability and beauty. It can also be used as tableware for everyday use, just like traditional lacquerware.
