Hinoki is a tree that is considered to be superior worldwide.
Hinoki trees take a long time to grow, but Kiso Hinoki takes an especially long time to grow. In the steeply sloping Kiso Valley surrounded by lush greenery, it grows slowly, over and over again, enduring the harsh cold of winter. It takes more than twice as long for a Hinoki tree to grow to the same size as one grown in other places. That time carves out the dense, beautiful annual rings that are unique to Kiso Hinoki.
